Hop To It

It's a hot sticky day here in Minnesota!!  I would much rather be at home being crafty, but I have to be at work.   It is kinda slow right now so I was blurfing and I came across a blog hop.  These are so much fun, inspiration PLUS a chance to win goodies!!!  I guess it makes up for being at work.  The blog hop is showcasing Inky Antics Stamps and CarlaCraft Binding System.  I LOVE Inky Antics stamps!!  Their HoneyPop collection is so much fun!!!  If you're looking for a cool way to beat the heat, be inspired and have a chance to win cool stuff check out Keri's Blog.  Happy Hopping!!

Nothin Gonna Break My Stride

I am off and running crafting.  Yesterday was Day 1 of Summer Card Camp 2011.   Every Monday we are given the "Weekly Color Combination" and shown cards from the "Camp Counselors", Jennifer and Kristina.  I downloaded the yesterday's PDF, and then it was out the door.  I met up with some friends to plan our "Stamp Camp" nights for the next 12 months.  Tonight I got home and got straight to work on making a card using this week's color combination which is:

Pink, Purple, Orange, Sky Blue and White

I will give you a minute to wrap your head around that.  I have to admit I was in a bit of a panic.  That is too many colors for me.  But I was up for the challenge.  This is the card I came up with:

I can see will have to work on my picture taking skills also. The fish is from Unity Stamps, it is stamped with Stampin'Up Purely Pomegranate on Only Orange card stock.  I used Stampin' Up glossy white card stock and stamped the sun with Yo Yo Yellow, the waves (CTMH 'On the Beach') with Brilliant Blue and the bubbles (Stampendous 'Changito Bubbles',just the bubbles not the monkeys) with VersaMark, then I embossed with Ranger Embossing Powder 'Holographic'.  the embossing powder sticks even though I used 'classic inks' because they are stamped on glossy card stock.  Then I used a brayer and rolled Soft Sky, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point to create the background.  I outlined my fish with Sakura Jelly Roll pen in 'Clear Star'.  I finished the card with Pink Passion card stock on a white base.  The inside sentiment reads "If love were water I'd give you the ocean", also from Unity Stamps.

Although I was challenged by the color combination and the number of colors I had to use, this is the first card I have created and made in less than one hour.  I tend to obsess over the details. I have decided that is one thing I would REALLY like to achieve during Summer Camp.  I would like to be able to consistently create and finish a card in less than one hour.

I am now off to download today's files....it's Technique Tuesday!!!

Here is the News

What an exciting weekend I had!!  Actually my "weekend" started at 2:30 on Wednesday.  A mini vacation.  Once again my family attended Crystal Springs Ranch Rodeo in Clear Lake, SD.  We have been doing this for the past 15 years.  This was Rylan's first rodeo.  I gotta share a pic...

Isn't he the cutest cowboy you ever did see??

Other exciting news...Dan and Bethany got engaged.  They don't have a definite date set, but they are looking at July 2012.  AND...I will be making the wedding invitations.  No pressure there!!  Here is a photo of the newly engaged couple...and of course my gorgeous grandson.

Haylea and Jake were only able to enjoy the Thursday night performance with us, as his brother was getting married on Saturday.  Haylea sent me a text Saturday night saying Jake had caught the garter and she had caught the bouquet.  I am not sure if she "caught it" or she wrestled the other single ladies for it.  Since Everyone else got their pictures in the blog, in the name of fairness I better include one of Haylea and Jake.

Tomorrow is the "Big Day"  Summer Card Camp 2011!!  Hope to see you there!!

Show Me What You Got

I the spirit of starting new, I decided it would be best to 'test' my ability (or lack there of) in posting pictures to my blog and linking them to the 'Student Galary' on the Summer Card Camp Blog BEFORE the class actually starts on Monday.

Guess what the card is for??  If you said Halloween...You are WRONG!! That would be TOO EASY!!  It was for my niece's graduation.  No I haven't gone mad, nor do I wish her dead.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota's Mortuary Science Program.  As you can see the tombstone says RIP, inside the card it says Really Impressive Performance.  Yeah I know it's kind of corny.  The tombstone, fence and grass were all cut with my Cricut, though I don't remember what cartridge.

This is a one page (so far) layout I did of my daughter's prom.  I love this candid shot.  The paper is from Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi Collection. I made the flowers using Bo Bunny Midnight Frost Wraps, and Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi Epoxy Brad and Jewels for the centers.  I Used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to color newspaper then cut the flowers with Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Florals, Tattered Leaves and Paper Rosette dies.  The title, butterflies and flourishes are from items I had in my stash.

Sum-Sum-Summertime

What says summer more than CAMP???  I am going to camp...sort of.  No bugs, no weather worries, I won't have to worry about sun burn or what to pack or how I will look in a swim suit!!  I am going to Summer Card Camp 2011.  Another wonderful feature...I won't be "going" anywhere at all.  It is a card camp with sketches, and techniques, and videos and guest artists and....PRIZES!!  WOOT WOOT!!

To celebrate this occasion I have updated my blog.  This whole blog thing has been a challenge to say the least.  I would really prefer to spend time scrapping and card making rather talking about it.  But I am going to give it a whirl once again.

(Hopefully) Starting Monday I will have some new creations to post and will have earned a new technique to talk about!!  Also I hope to meet new friends as we share our talents with each other through our blogs.

See you at camp!!
